We’re proud to have delivered a comprehensive Climate Proofing Report for the Water Services Corporation’s (WSC) national wastewater infrastructure upgrades as part of the ERDF and Cohesion funded projects for 2021-2027. Our team assessed the climate risks and vulnerabilities that could affect this critical investment and identified tailored mitigation and adaptation measures to future-proof Malta’s wastewater supply.

We carried out an in-depth climate hazards identification exercise, analyzing the project’s exposure and sensitivity to key climate threats:
· Heatwaves and rising temperatures
· Drought and prolonged water scarcity
· Flooding and heavy rainfall events
· Sea level rise and saline intrusion
· Storm surges and coastal erosion
· High winds and extreme weather event
🔎 Vulnerability & Risk Evaluation
We evaluated how these hazards could impact desalination plants, wastewater treatment systems, power supply infrastructure, and water distribution networks—from energy disruptions to operational shutdowns and potential public health risks.
