The site selection exercise was undertaken to identify a suitable alternative site(s) for the relocation of the 31st March 1979 petroleum installation at Birzebbuga. The exercise identified a ‘Long List’ of potential sites and then evaluated those sites for their suitability in relation to more detailed planning, technical, social, and policy considerations. A ‘Short List’ of potential sites was identified.
