In 2021 Adi Associates Directors, Adrian Mallia and Rachel Xuereb, co-authored a paper entitled Numerically enhanced conceptual modelling (NECoM) applied to the Malta Mean Sea Level Aquifer that was published in the Hydrogeology Journal.

Tiziana Tiziana Agius is an Environmental Engineer with experience in air quality, geographic information systems (GIS), noise monitoring and traffic data collection. She is also a registered certified energy auditor as per GN 1302 of 2014. She initially started working with Adi Associates as part of her degree apprenticeship and later joined Adi Associates Environmental Consultants Ltd as an employee in early 2019.

Tiziana is responsible for the preparation of monthly air quality reports from a number of construction sites that the company monitors, calibration of air quality equipment, assistance in the preparation of method statements and Project Description Statements and undertaking noise monitoring and traffic count surveys. She also assists with the company’s GIS mapping, including land use cover, geology, hydrology, environmental and cultural heritage designations and maps in relation to traffic modelling.

Tiziana has a particular interest in microplastic contamination. For her bachelor’s degree, she researched the contamination of microplastics in different environmental matrices within the Maltese Islands. During her bachelor’s degree, she also had the opportunity to assist an ongoing doctoral research focusing on the potential usage of storm-water runoff of the Maltese islands. She is currently reading for a Master of Science in Biology at the University of Malta where she is focusing on microplastic contamination in temporary freshwater rockpools in the Maltese Islands, determining concentrations within and across different landscapes.

Since working with Adi Associates, Tiziana has been part of numerous projects, including the implementation of the 2nd River Basin Management Plan in the Malta River Basin District, the Chadwick Lakes Vision Restoration Plan, the MedIsWet project and the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 for Malta.

Tiziana has also been given training on the Environmental Management Systems (EMS) to provide support to the Environmental Management System manager.

Tiziana is fluent in Maltese and English and has a good understanding of Italian. In her spare time, Tiziana enjoys painting and travelling, with a passion for the local cuisine and history.
